AfA & CCA highlight dangers of cetacean captivity

A video recently came to light on Chinese social media site Weibo in which a captive beluga at Ningbo Ocean World can be seen exhibiting aggressive behaviours towards a trainer during a free dive.

This behaviour, which presents a serious threat to such trainers, can be interpreted as a manifestation of the stress of captivity on the part of the beluga and is yet another indicator for why cetaceans simply should not live captive lives.


Therefore AfA has joined forces with cetacean experts from the China Cetacean Alliance to write to decision makers at the facility, urging them to take these matters seriously.
