AfA opposes Chimps smoking cigarettes in China

A recent news article has shown that once again, Chimpanzees can be seen smoking at Hefei Wild Animal Park in China. AfA wrote to the facility about this exact same problem back in 2016 and they publicly agreed to address it.

This new article from Daily Mail, shows not only images of one chimp smoking cigarettes, but also another male chimp attacking a worker whilst trying to escape the park via the main tourist entrance. Watch the video below:

Clearly this facility has no regard for either animal welfare, animal management, or the welfare of it’s staff and visitors.

Today AfA has sent a new letter, signed by 201 expert animal welfare organisations from around the world, to let them know that the world is watching, and that this kind of negligence for the welfare of our closest living relatives, is unacceptable.
