Each year, during the first week of May, IMW is an opportunity for macaque enthusiasts worldwide to showcase their combined commitment through a variety of activities. Whether it's a heartfelt social media post or an elaborate fundraising event, every action contributes to the cause.
International Macaque Week (IMW) is observed annually and dedicated to raising awareness of and empathy for one of the world's most persecuted groups of primates.
IMW was founded by Barbary Macaque Awareness and Conservation (BMAC) and the AfA Macaque Coalition (MACC) is coordinating it in 2026. We invite NGOs, sanctuaries, zoos, educational institutions and others to join forces in celebrating these magnificent creatures.
