The Mass Consumption of Dog Meat in Yulin City: “Summer Solstice Lychee Dog Meat Festival”.

Every year, the city of Yulin in China hosts the “Summer Solstice Lychee Dog Meat Festival”, which results in the brutal slaughter of thousands of dogs.

Defended by the traders as a “Festival”, the reality is that, the promotion of the mass slaughtering and consumption of dogs is a profit-driven event that promotes the illegal sourcing and trading of dogs, posing a serious risk to both animal welfare and public health and safety.

At previous events, eyewitnesses, local investigators and the media have reported crude and brutal forms of handling and slaughter, including bludgeoning, often in public view and in front of other dogs.

The Asia for Animals Coalition has written to the Governor of Guangxi Province, urging the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region government to take urgent action to prevent the event, but we need your help!
